Union Station - Gary, IN

Quietly tucked away between two railroad tracks on the north side of Gary, IN lies the ruins of the former train station. The building was originally closed in the 1950s and is slowly falling apart.

Six Flags, New Orleans, LA - Revisited

Due in part to a 40 car pile up on i-10 that forced us to reroute, It was decided to return to Six Flags New Orleans and see if much has changed since my last visit in Sept 2010. Sadly it just looks slightly worse. The large carnival head has been smashed and the walls have gathered more graffiti.

Willowbrook State School - Staten Island, NY

Hidden away in a wooded area on Staten Island. The Willowbrook State School was an asylum for mentally retarded children from the 1930's to 1987. At its peak, the hospital had over 6000 residents and was rife with scandal. In 1965 Robert Kennedy toured the site and declared the conditions "living in filth and dirt, their clothing in rags, in rooms less comfortable and cheerful than the cages in which we put animals in a zoo".

City Methodist Church - Gary, IN

Originally constructed in 1927, this church located in downtown Gary boasted a weekly congregation of around 3,000 people at its peek. Now it quietly sits in decay just off of the main strip, partially destroyed by a fire in 1997 during the "Great Gary Arson".

United States Post Office - Gary, IN

Built in 1936 by architect Howard Lovewell Cheney, this United States Postal building was abandoned sometime in the 1970's. Little information is available about it on the internet. So details are sparse on this one.
